Spider Vein Therapy in Cutchogue, NY
Spider vein therapy reduces small red, blue, and purple veins on the face and legs. Your veins are examined first so the method fits them. Most treated veins fade over several weeks.
What Is Spider Vein Therapy?
Spider veins are small, widened blood vessels that show through the skin. They often appear on the legs and on the face around the nose and cheeks. Sun exposure, genetics, hormones, and age all play a role.
Spider vein therapy closes these small vessels so the body can absorb them. Depending on the vein, treatment uses targeted energy or a small injection into the vessel, called sclerotherapy. Once a vein closes, it gradually fades from view.
The method is matched to the size and location of each vein and to your skin type. Facial veins and leg veins often need different approaches.
Who It Helps
Spider vein therapy suits adults with fine red or purple veins on the face, often around the nose and cheeks. It also treats clusters of small veins on the thighs, knees, and lower legs.
It works best on small veins near the surface of the skin. Large, bulging varicose veins usually need a different treatment, and we will tell you if that applies to you.
Visible veins can sometimes point to a circulation problem. We check for this during your consultation before recommending treatment.
What to Expect
Your first visit is a consultation. We review your health history, examine the veins, and explain which method we recommend.
A session typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. Most patients describe brief, mild discomfort during treatment.
Mild redness, swelling, or bruising near the treated area is common for a few days. Most patients return to normal activities the same day. After leg vein treatment, you may be asked to wear compression stockings and avoid strenuous exercise for a short time.
Treated veins typically fade over 3 to 6 weeks. Many patients need 2 or 3 sessions spaced several weeks apart.
Care Led by a Nurse Practitioner
Courtney Lake, the founder of North Fork Radiance, performs or oversees every spider vein treatment. She is a Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years in healthcare, including medical and surgical critical care and infectious disease.
Treating blood vessels requires knowledge of circulation and the ability to recognize and manage complications. A Nurse Practitioner can tell when visible veins point to a larger health issue and can respond quickly if a reaction occurs.
