Scar Revision in Cutchogue, NY
Scar revision softens the color, texture, and visibility of scars from acne, surgery, or injury. Treatment is planned for each scar and often combines more than one technique.
What Is Scar Revision?
Scar revision is a set of treatments that make a scar less noticeable. The goal is to help the scar blend in with the skin around it.
The right treatment depends on the scar. Indented scars often respond to collagen-building treatments such as microneedling. Rough texture may improve with resurfacing. Red or dark scars may respond to light-based treatments or peels.
We assess each scar and build a plan around it. Scars rarely disappear completely, but most can be made smoother and less visible.
Who It Helps
Scar revision helps people with acne scars, surgical scars, injury scars, and other marks they want to soften. It treats indented or raised texture, lingering redness or darkness, and scars that stand out from the surrounding skin.
At your consultation, we examine the scar and consider its age and type. You learn what improvement is realistic and how many sessions it may take.
Newer scars sometimes need more time to mature before treatment. If that applies to you, we will tell you.
What to Expect
Your visit starts with a consultation and a close look at the scar and the skin around it.
Most scars improve over a series of sessions. Your provider explains the treatment plan and expected timeline before you begin.
Numbing is used when the treatment calls for it. Depending on the technique, you may have redness or mild sensitivity for a few days afterward. You go home with written aftercare instructions.
Improvement builds over weeks to months as the skin remodels. The plan is adjusted based on how the scar responds.
Care Led by a Nurse Practitioner
Courtney Lake plans and oversees every scar revision treatment at North Fork Radiance. She is a Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years in healthcare and a background in medical and surgical critical care and infectious disease.
Scar tissue heals differently from normal skin, and her training in wound care and infection prevention guides each treatment. Nurse Practitioner-led care means a licensed clinician assesses your skin, chooses the treatment settings, and manages any reaction. You see the same provider at every visit, not an unsupervised technician.
